Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about importing from China, customs clearance, duties, VAT, EORI and exporting Greek products.

What does Erion Group do?

expand_more

Erion Group is an import and export company based in Zografou, Athens, Greece. We run the whole process for businesses: finding and vetting suppliers, ordering, quality control, transport, customs clearance, storage and delivery. For exports we find buyers abroad and handle documents, export clearance and transport.

Which countries do you import from?

expand_more

Mainly from China and the rest of Asia, but we handle imports from any country outside the EU. We deliver anywhere in Greece.

How much does customs clearance cost?

expand_more

It depends on the product. The cost is made of customs duty (a percentage of the CIF value, depending on the TARIC code), 24% import VAT on the value plus duty, port charges and the clearance fee. Before any order we give you an estimate of the total landed cost.

How long does an import from China take?

expand_more

Roughly: sea freight 30–45 days to Piraeus, air freight 5–10 days. Add the supplier's production time and customs clearance, which usually takes a few days when the documents are in order.

Do I need an EORI number to import or export?

expand_more

Yes. Any business importing or exporting outside the EU needs an EORI number. For a Greek business it is usually "EL" plus the VAT number (ΑΦΜ), activated through AADE. We help you get it before your first shipment.

Can I import small quantities?

expand_more

Yes. For quantities that do not fill a container we use consolidated cargo (LCL), where you pay only for the space your goods take. For very small or urgent cargo there is air freight.

How do you check quality before shipping?

expand_more

We inspect at the factory before loading, on a sample based on the AQL standard, and send you a report with photos. The inspection happens before the order balance is paid, so problems can still be fixed.

Do you have warehouses?

expand_more

We work with partner warehouses in Athens and Thessaloniki for short or long-term storage and final delivery to the customer.

How is the foreign supplier paid?

expand_more

Usually by bank transfer: a deposit (often 30%) with the order and the balance before loading, after the quality inspection. For large amounts a letter of credit (L/C) can be used.

Do you also export Greek products?

expand_more

Yes. We help Greek businesses sell abroad: finding buyers and distributors, export documents and certificates of origin, export clearance and transport to the destination.

Do the products I import need CE marking?

expand_more

For many categories yes, e.g. electrical and electronic goods, toys, machinery, PPE. The importer must hold the declaration of conformity and put their details on the product or packaging. We check the supplier's documents before ordering.
